Autumn Home Tour!

Hello Friends! Have you missed me?? Any one still out there?? <crickets>  Well, what can I say about my absence except that sometimes life happens. I have so many irons in the fire, so many projects outside of this little blog that I love, and many new life changes that all take away from my time here. But I do promise to post as often as I can. :)

I know many of you are already decorating for Christmas, and I'm just now getting around to posting about Fall lol. Well, Fall is definitely my favorite season to decorate. What's yours?? I wont be putting up any Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving. This year, I plan to slow it down and really just relax with my loved ones and reflect on what it truly means to be thankful.

Now, on to the good stuff :)

I took many photos (36 to be exact) and I am posting them all here as sort of a Fall home tour. I wont bore you with my rambling, I will just let you look and enjoy!

These first few reflect the day here today. Dreary, rainy and cool. But it still makes for some gorgeous photos!

You can see the changes Fall and the rain bring to my gardens...

I went with a more simple theme outside this year. And my beautiful stacked pumpkins with the house numbers had finally seen its last year...

Let's move inside now and check out the entryway...

How about we cozy up in the Living Room...

You will find some Fall sprinkled around the kitchen....

The guest bath has changed since the last time I shared it. Now it's also decorated with some Fall touches :)

The Master Bedroom feels just right for snuggling :) As it should!

Well that's it for my little Fall tour. I hope you've enjoyed your visit!

This last photo is my current view as I blog to you today. Everything is better in candlelight wouldn't you agree?? :) I will be back with another post soon after Thanksgiving, if not before. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Hometalk Seasonal Kitchens!

   Hello Friends!

Let's talk kitchens! This is the time of year that our homes come alive with all things Spring, and if you are anything like me, you are always looking for some decorating inspiration. One of the best sites that I have found for kitchen inspiration is Hometalk, and I was beyond excited when the fabulous Liz Storch contacted me and asked me to curate a "Seasonal Kitchen Decor" board to share in their newsletter!

When you have a chance, just click on the graphic below and it will take you right to my "Seasonal Kitchen Decor" clipboard ...... you just might find a clip of your own seasonal kitchen! :)

These clips are just a few of the gorgeous decorating ideas on this amazing site ... there are many, many more clips from super creative peeps that have ideas for every budget.

If you've never visited Hometalk you should take some time and visit soon! I promise you wont be disappointed :)

Thank you again to Liz Storch for asking me to curate and thanks to you for stopping by!

Have a great week!

Welcoming Spring!

   Hello, friends!!!

Today I wanted to share some pics of my Spring decor in the entryway and living room areas :) I have made some changes in my decor since last Spring, but I still have a few ideas on some other things I would like to change. Maybe you can help me? I am open to suggestions :)

As you enter our home, this is what you see first...

I added some seashells, hydrangeas, and candles to the entry table...

I like how the green in the hydrangeas play off of the green leaves in this wooden wreath I found at Target last year...

I was thinking I might add some decorative plates beside the mirror, get a larger rug to fill in the space and take out the storage bench. What do you think?

As you turn back around, this is your view from the front door...

Yes, I know our couch is large and in charge, ignore that fact lol. The seating it provides is MUCH needed with a large extended family like we have. Everyone can sit comfortably and just visit, watch TV, or play games, and that makes us all happy! Nobody has to sit on the floor now :)

Welcome to our Living Room...

I would love to stain the fireplace mantel darker to match the rest of the wood in the house, and I think that's next on my long list of projects. I know, everyone is painting everything white, which does look fresh and opens up a space, BUT back in the 90's I had the French Country look and everything everywhere was painted white! (I will share those photos sometime) For now, I love the warmth of dark wood, and I think that's what I'm sticking with. For now.... ;)

I added some bookshelves here to reflect my love of books and I styled them with family photos and some of my fave decorating pieces. One piece of decorating advice I use is that to "complete" every look, you should add three things; First is to add light, second is to add life and third is to add something personal.

The first step of adding light is usually either with candles or a lamp. These give light and warmth to a space. The second step of adding life is with plants or flowers. Don't feel guilty about adding faux! The third step is adding something personal. This is the most creative step, and can be accomplished by adding family photos or your favorite decorative or collectible piece. Bring in your personality and make the space truly yours. :)

A big bonus by following this advice is you will always be surrounded by things you love...

On this side of the room, I want to add a larger rug, a larger coffee table and some different artwork. What do you think??

I have a slight symmetry problem here, and I need to add something of similar size and shape on the right of the archway to mirror the artwork on the left, but haven't found what I want yet...

Closer view of our only end table...

Behind the chair sits a dresser that I distressed and now use in this space. I love these roses!

On to the mantel :)

If you follow me on Facebook, you probably saw my photo giving you a sneak peek of this old mirror that I painted with chalk paint, and here is the result! I love the pop of color it adds to the room, tying together the blue and green I've added in here for the Spring...

Another tip is to add items in odd numbers. It makes things more interesting :)

Dream a little dream...

One last look...

Thank you for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it! I truly am open to suggestions and any tips you may have for me :)

Have a great week!
